Superbowl Fun & Appetizer Recipes with Dallas Cowboys Petit Bacon & Ham #TXBacon #CBIAS

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL!! Every year we get together with friends and family to watch the Superbowl! We barbeque, everyone bring an appetizer or side dish and we munch, hang out, and have fun. This year we started it off early with a poker tournament and pre-game mingling. So there were probably around 60 or so people that came to enjoy Texas Hold ‘Em and the watch the Superbowl. Personally I was not routing for one team or the other.
Although I noticed more men were routing for the New England Patriots and more women for the New York Giants for whatever reason. This year I decided to make Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Jalapenos, Ham & Cheese Sliders, and “Crack” Bread… all made with the Dallas Cowboys Petit Jean Bacon & Ham #TXBacon.

Friday we went shopping for all the ingredients that I need for the appetizers that I was making for our Superbowl Party. I went to my favorite local HEB to shop for groceries and for the appetizers…

My shopping list for the week!

WooHoo I {Heart} #TXBacon & Ham!!

After shopping I got started making the recipes. I enjoy making appetizers for when we get together and hang out. Especially when everyone loves them!! I decided to try two new things this time… Ham Sliders and “Crack” Bread plus Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Jalapenos. Everything turned out delicious and were enjoyed by everyone.

Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Jalapenos Recipe:
Cream Cheese
The amounts are all determined by you and how many you want to make and how big your Jalapenos are!
Wash the Jalapenos, cut the the stem off, and “gut” (take the seeds and veins out) them. Put the cream cheese in the jalapenos… you can spoon it in or put the softened cream cheese in a ziplock cut the corner off and squeeze it in. Once the cream cheese is in the jalapenos wrap the bacon around the tops, use toothpicks to keep it on and then grill.

** You can mix other ingredients with the cream cheese ie: sausage, bacon, shrimp, etc.**

I went to get a picture of the Bacon Wrapped Jalapenos and there weren’t any… they were gone in a heart beat!!
The Mayo/Miracle Whip Spread and the Poppy Seed Topping
Sliders tightly placed in the baking pan!!
Ham & Cheese Sliders (adapted from The Girl Who Ate Everything)
Dinner Rolls – King Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
Honey Ham – Dallas Cowboys Petit Jean Ham
Swiss Cheese
1/3 cup Mayonnaise
1/3 cup Miracle Whip
Poppy Seed Topping
1 Tablespoon poppyseeds
1 1/2 Tablespoons yellow mustard
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 Tablespoon minced onion
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise and miracle whip. Spread onto both sides of each roll. Place a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss inside of each roll. Place them into a large baking dish or heavy cookie sheet tightly together.
In a medium bowl, whisk together all of the poppy seed sauce ingredients. Pour evenly over all of the sandwiches. Just use enough to cover the tops. Let sit 10 minutes or until butter sets slightly. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until cheese is melted. Uncover and cook for 2 additional minutes or until tops are slightly brown and crispy. Serve warm.
** sandwiches can be assembled a day ahead and kept in the fridge ready to bake.

** we placed them on the hot BBQ pit and heated them for 25 minutes or until the swiss cheese was melted and warmed through.
** I am the type to “mix” everything without measuring exactly and see how things turn out : )
** I also made a batch without the topping and have to say that they are way better with the topping than without!!!

EVERYONE asked for the recipe for these Ham and Cheese Sliders!!

“Crack” Bread aka Cheddar Bacon Pulls
Lg. Round loaf of Bread (I used Sourdough)
Bacon – cooked and crumbled
Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Ranch Seasoning
Tony’s Casheres Creole Seasoning
1/2 cup Butter

Place bread loaf on a baking dish/sheet. Cut the bread in both directions making section BUT make sure that you do not cut all the way though. It makes a “blossom” effect and sprinkle the crumbled bacon and shredded cheese in all the cracks and crevices. Heat the butter and mix in the Ranch seasoning and Tony’s to your preference and taste. Pour the mixture evenly over the all of the bread. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes then uncover and bake for 10 more.
They call it “Crack” bread for a reason… it is addictive.

All of the appetizers were so yummy!! Everyone complimented me on the appetizers that I made with the Dallas Cowboys Petit Jean Bacon & Ham. I was impressed with how good they tasted too!! You can check your local HEB to see if they carry it and try some for yourself!
