Pretty Neat
the buttoned-up way to get organized & let go of perfection
Alicia Rockmore & Sarah Welch
SUMMARY:
Pretty Neat is a handbook that embraces the chaotic reality that lies beneath org porn’s glossy veneer, offering pithy anecdotes and candid advice from experts and real women alike on tackling organizational inertia. Funny, irreverent, entertaining, and helpful, the book covers all facets of clutter-control, from tried-and-true tips for conquering to-do lists and wrangling family schedules to ideas on excavating inboxes, eliminating excuses, and delegating housework. Most importantly, Pretty Neat insists that women need to stop holding themselves to impossibly high standards, and focus instead on defining their own, realistic organizational goals. Full of engaging examples from everyday women, Pretty Neat offers readers unorthodox, surprisingly simple methods to reduce their org porn–fueled stress, insisting that perfection is impossible — and unnecessary — in this messy, unpredictable world called real life.

MY THOUGHTS:
I was very organized until  I was pregnant(yes I can blame it on that). Then I was moving rooms around and going crazy wanting everything to be “perfect” before my little bundle of joy made her appearance! Well in my chaotic need to have everything “perfect” I still have a mess 2 years later!! I had just a trail in one of my spare rooms with baby gear, books, and junk piled up at least waist high!! My Hubby was comparing me to a hoarder… okay still does. I wish I had taken a picture of it before I actually started to work on it but I didn’t!! Here is a couple pics of it “cleaned up”, I know I still have a ton to do but just imagine a small trail from the door to the printer!

So I was in dire need of this book when I was given the opportunity to review it!! I really like the way the book is layed out! Simple but very effective. My favorite chapter is Chapter 8~ Clear the Clutter at Home, this chapter definitely pertains to me as you can see ; ) They have simple steps and there are “Neat Tips” tucked into some of the pages that help with getting you and your home more organized. I love that these steps and tips have been tested by real moms… they have videos you can watch on their Buttoned Up website along with other great products you can purchase to help get you organized! I also like the part of the title that says “let go of perfection” I am working on that continually!! This book definitely inspires the take charge in you and give you the tools to know how to do it!

My basement can use some attention. Everything goes there if we don’t know what to do with it.

Sorry I forgot to tell you I’m following on GFC. I could really use some help on organizing my life in general. I was laid off about 5 weeks ago and I have no idea what I want to do. Can’t seem to get motivated. Otherwise, I need to organize my apartment badly.
