Synopsis:
Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce & Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of “Tales of Suspense” (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with “The Invincible Iron Man” (#1) in May of 1968.

In Marvel’s “Iron Man 3,” Tony Stark/Iron Man finds his world reduced to rubble by a malevolent enemy and must use his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him as he seeks to destroy the enemy and his cohorts.

THOUGHTS:
I was unable to attend the pre-screening and enlisted some friends to help review the movie so here are their thoughts…

JOHN:
I thoroughly enjoyed the third installment of the Iron Man franchise, a great movie overall. In my opinion the newest film rivals the first one for the best of the three. The fast-paced, action laden film didn’t waste any time getting the audience engaged while also perfectly utilizing the 3-D aspect of the movie. The new character additions of the villain, Killian- played by Guy Pearce, and a young boy named Harley, played by Ty Simpkins, really elevate the film to rival the first. The dynamic between Downey and the young boy is perfectly acted and injects a great youthful wit into the film. All-in-all, the film exceeded expectations and rounded out the Iron Man story quite nicely.

CAROLINE:
IronMan 3 – Great movie, Since characters were already developed the movie started hard and started fast. Kept me on the edge of my seat for sure. Very loud and near constant action was just a tad too much, but I’m sure most younger people were fine with it. Robert Downey Jr. was spectacular and very comfortable in his role and in the IronMan suit. The young 8 year old boy that played Harley, (Ty Simpkins I think was his real name) is definitely a find. We will be seeing him more. His chemistry with Robert Downey Jr. was great. It is hard to upstage Downey, but this young man came closer than anybody I have seen! Wish the part for the 8 year old Harley was meatier because I would have liked it. Downey, as IronMan suffered from some kind of PTSD from IronMan’s previous escapades and I liked the way this movie explored some of the down side of being a super hero.

Disclosure: I received complimentary movie passes to attend a pre-screening. I was not compensated to write a positive or favorable review. This is Keeping Up With The Rheinlander’s personal opinion.

My husband and I saw it last weekend and were so excited to finally view the film. After all of the hype we heard from friends who attended the premier I knew it would be good. I was surprised that it exceeded my expectations.
