Can you tell the readers a little about yourself?
I live in San Francisco with my family and totally love the fog.  My husband jokes that I’m part vampire, LOL. I’m a full-time mom with one kid and two feisty young cats. The latter two often think they’re human. I like to write, read, and exercise (yes, really). I’m totally addicted to Soy Thai Iced Tea, Starbuck’s Soy Chai Tea Latte and Joss Whedon’s work (the man is a genius!). In addition to writing urban fantasy and paranormal romance, I line edit and read slush pile for an indie publisher.

Do you write full time?
As a full-time mom, I fit in writing time where I can. A typical day looks something like this: Chauffeur child to school, exercise, write, line edit and/or read slush pile for indie publisher, pick up child, spend evening with family. Rinse, repeat.

What are 5 fun/interesting facts about you?

1. I’m a fan of 19th and early 20th century French poetry (in French).

2. I play piano.

3. I have a tattoo I designed myself.

4. I sported an ever-morphing asymmetrical bobbed hairstyle in the 80s, in various colors.

5. I’m a natural redhead.

What are the “must haves” for you when you sit down to write a book?
Water and a caffeinated soy beverage, my jambox for tunes, my computer, of course, and some paper for scribbling notes and/or doodling. I find drawing images sometimes inspires my Muse.

What made you decide to become a writer and how old were you?
I grew up listening to my Irish grandmother’s stories about the Fae, including her encounter with a Banshee in her root cellar when she was a teenager. Imagination fueled, I penned many a fairytale as a youth. Not sure how young I was, but I do remember those first stories were written with a No.2 pencil and paper.

Who or what was your inspiration for writing “HAVEN”?
Vampires!  I wrote the story I wanted to read. 🙂

Do you feel that you can relate to one character in Haven more than any other? And why?
All of my Haven characters hold a piece of my heart, but Jonas is my favorite. An ancient vampire originally from England, Jonas embodies extreme violence in a pretty package.  He’s a man of few words, dark and moody, fiercely loyal and violently protective of those few people he loves (such as Carina).

I can relate to his loyalty to and protectiveness for his loved ones. I adore him so much I gave him his own story, a prequel to HAVEN entitled “The Vampire Code.” It releases this October from Champagne Books.

What do you Love most about writing?
Watching the worlds in my head manifest on the page!

What is your biggest challenge when you write?
Having enough uninterrupted time to write!

Do you have any advice for any other aspiring writers out there?
Write every day. Even if, some days, you only have time for a few sentences. Every. Single. Day.

What do you do when you are not writing?
Exercise, hang with the family, read, watch vampire/fantasy shows or anything and everything by Joss Whedon.

When you’re not writing what kind of books do you like to read?
Urban fantasy, paranormal romance, highlander/time travel romance, to name a few.

Since becoming published, what has been your favorite part of the process?
Feedback about Haven. It’s nice to receive reader responses!

If you can, tell us what is up next for you?
I’m working on more stories in the Tranquilli Bloodline series and am outlining a paranormal romance featuring the Fae.
