The Chronicles of Kerrigan Button

Can you tell the readers a little about yourself?

I live in Canada, and no, it doesn’t snow here all the time. We don’t live in igloos (at least where I live) and yes, we say ‘eh a lot.

Do you write full time?

No. I wish I had more time to write but I’m a mom of three kids, a wife and have a business dealing in vintage jewelry

What are 5 fun/interesting facts about you?

I love reading, antiques, jewelry, kids and movies – but not in that order J

What are the “must haves” for you when you sit down to write a book?

Time to fall into the book. Once I’m in, there is no getting me out!

What made you decide to become a writer and how old were you?

Always wanted to write but really put pen to paper after my father passed away. Life’s too short to put off thing for tomorrow. Do it today.

Who or what was your inspiration for writing Chronicles of Kerrigan?

My fascination with tattoos J

Do you feel that you can relate to one character in Chronicles of Kerrigan more than any other? And why?

Each character has a little bit of me or a little bit of what I wish I could be.

What do you Love most about writing?

The way a sentence or part of the story can move you. That it can pull you right in or make your angry or cry. That’s my favourite part of writing or rading.

What is your biggest challenge when you write?

Finding the time. I wish I had more J

Do you have any advice for any other aspiring writers out there?

Write, write write. Join a critique group (I started at Its great site to get advise and learn how to write or edit or meet other writers. It was the best thing I did when I started editing.

What do you do when you are not writing?

Super busy, busy, busy. Always behind on everything J But I enjoy our business. I love antique jewelry. Its fun to clean or go through and sort box lots. I love playing with my kids – they are young and we have three so they are always up for some horsing around or playing I spy.

When you’re not writing what kind of books do you like to read?

Everything. Anything. I love being pulled into a story and then being sad when you have to come up for air. I particularly enjoy YA, Fantasy, Romance, Paranormal.

Since becoming published, what has been your favorite part of the process?

Its all a learning process and interesting. Its fun seeing the cover unfold, or editing to tighten the story. Having the book published, receiving fan emails. I can’t pick a favourite part (yet – Maybe when I sign a movie contract – that’ll be the best part! Hee hee!)

If you can, tell us what is up next for you?

Working on Radium Halos to go to my agent Dawn Dowdle by the end of the month. Then back to House of Cards (third book in the Chronicles of Kerrigan series)

Thanks for letting me stop by and babble! I enjoyed the visit.  WJ May

Wanita May grew up in the fruit belt of Ontario – St.Catharines. Crazy-happy childhood, she always has had a vivid imagination and loads of energy.

The youngest of six — four older brothers, and a sister — taught her at a young age to be competitive in all aspects of life.

At sixteen, she began competing in athletics (track and field) and before she turned seventeen, she was representing Canada in high jump. She continued to compete, breaking Canada’s JR High Jump record (1.92m – 6′ 3 1/2″ for those metric-ly challenged). She attented University of Toronto, and Kansas State University – winning CIAU’s and becoming All-American 6x – NCAA Indoors Runner Up + more.

But you’re not interested in her athletic career – unless of course you’re curious to know she stands 1.70m (5’7″) and has jumped 20cm over her head on more than one occassion. She’s represented Canada at the World Championships, World Jrs., won Francophone Games, and loved every minute of every competition. From the grueling workouts, the crazy weights she lifted on her back, the days she thought her lungs were going to spit out of her mouth for lack of oxygen, the travelling around the world and the opportunity to read – her favourite past time.

Wanita and her husband now run an online business, dealing in antiques and collectables – particularly jewelry and porcelain.

After her father passed away in 2009, from a six-year battle with cancer (which she still believes he won the fight against), she began to write again. A passion she’d loved for years, but realized life was too short to keep putting it off.

She is currently represented by Dawn Dowdle of Blue Ridge Literary Agency. Wanita is a writer of Young Adult, Fantasy Fiction and where ever else her little muses take her.
