THE INTERVIEW:

Can you tell the readers a little about yourself?

Hello I’m Lacy Danes. I live in the Portland OR area with my fantastic husband and Iceball Partner. We have three kids from our first marriages, a puppy named Cooper and two beta fish.

Do you write full time?
Nope. I wish I did and will probably give writing as a career a shot in the future.

What are 5 fun/interesting facts about you?
1. I love the color red.
2. I grew up riding horses and have owned three in my life.
3. I used to volunteer at an animal shelter and took photos of the animals to post on line.
4. I went to school for, and have a BS degree in, Photography.
5. I have a passion for creating new and interesting mixed drinks. I love to make them almost more than drink them.

What are the “must haves” for you when you sit down to write a book?
Music, inspiration, and the coop dog near by.

What made you decide to become a writer and how old were you?

I made a new year’s resolution when I was 36. A friend of mine took time off her job to write a book and I love to read so I though I could do that.

Who or what was your inspiration for writing Waterfall
The first scene came to me in a dream. From there I knew I wanted to write something different. So I came up with an idea and them brainstormed it more with my CPs.

Do you feel that you can relate to one character in Waterfall more than any other? And why? Humm. Not any one more than the others. In my past books, there are heroines I definitely connected with more. Off the top of my head, Grace from Being Wicked is one.

What do you Love most about writing?
Looking back on a completed work and being amazed I wrote that. I love using the creative part of my brain.

What is your biggest challenge when you write?
Feeling rushed. I have a day job, young kids, a husband, and house chores. So my time to write it limited.

Do you have any advice for any other aspiring writers out there?
Make time to write every day. Once you skip a day, it turns into two and then three…

What do you do when you are not writing?
I work in IT as a QA lead. I have been doing that sort of work for over 18 years. I basically help find bugs in software and configurations that companies use.

Outside work, I play with my kids, walk my dog, play board games with my husband, read, and watch TV. Some of my favorite shows are: Justified, The Walking Dead, The Good Wife, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Hell on Wheels, Fringe, Bones, Mob Doctor, Design Star, Ink Master, and Chopped.

When you’re not writing what kind of books do you like to read?
Historical romance, paranormal romance, mysteries, graphic novels, and history research books.

Since becoming published, what has been your favorite part of the process?
Editing. I love how rich my stories become with each edit pass.

If you can, tell us what is up next for you?
I am currently writing the second story in the Dragon’s Fate series. It is called Open Flame and is Madoc’s story.
