Graduation… It seems like yesterday that I was walking into the football stadium onto the field and impatiently waiting for them to call my name! We had a class size of 524 and I was in the middle! At the time I did not realize how important that day would be to me because all I could think about was HURRY HURRY HURRY… Let’s get this over with!! You can imagine the Texas heat and humidity in May… ugh!! I was not emotional until walking into the stands I saw my best friend Summer (who was a year behind me), she was crying and then it hit me… I was a graduate!!
The only regret that I have from graduation night is that I did not get that quintessential picture of me and my friends in our graduation gowns… we scattered off to our families and as you can see from the picture above it would have taken forever to find each other. We met up later but had already taken our gowns off! My VERY favorite memory from graduation is the next morning when I found my niece dressed up in my hat, gown, and even the shoes I wore.
When I asked her what she was doing she told me she wanted to be just like me!! She soon will be graduating college and has turned into such a lovely young woman that anyone would be proud of!! Graduation will take on a whole new meaning for me as my little monkey grows up and one day graduates herself but we think about that… later!!
