Game Day Eats: Smoked Queso

by | 0 comments

Our next game day favorite is probably one of the biggest appetizer trends right now — SMOKED QUESO!

Like most families, mine loves queso, so when this trend first hit, I had to try it out and put my own twist on it.

This appetizer is so easy to create. Simply throw all of the ingredients in a disposable half roaster pan, put it on the smoker and stir.

No fuss with the cooking or the clean up.

If you have a smoker, be sure to fire it up this coming weekend for this crowd pleasing conversation starter.

From my kitchen (smoker) to yours, enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 9 oz chorizo sausage, browned

  • 1 yellow onion, diced

  • 1 can tomatoes with green chili

  • 1 can diced green chili

  • 16 oz Velveeta Cheese, cubed

  • 2 cups Queso Quesadilla cheese, shredded (You could use any kind of Mexican blend here)

  • 8 oz cream cheese, cubed

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • ½ cup milk

  • Handful of chopped cilantro

Instructions

Step 1

  • Pre-heat smoker to 225 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2

  • Add ingredients to a disposable (or smoker safe) metal pan.

Step 3

  • Place pan on the smoker and cook at 225 degrees fahrenheit for an hour. Stirring every 20 minutes.

Finishing

  • Serve with tortilla chips or over fries!
