Synopsis:
Ten years after the great war of 2185 the queen’s reign is threatened by uprisings and fear. In celebration of my sixteenth birthday it is my duty as princess to sacrifice a slave to be initiated into the ruling council, solidifying my mother’s empire. When my own erratic powers surface I’m captured and tried for treason. Slaves hate me, my mother wants me executed, and my only chance of survival rests in the hands of a young man, Ryder Arteres, whose sister I sentenced to death.

About the Author:
Ciara Knight always had a passion for storytelling. At an early age, she wrote several short stories and poems, and in college she started work on her first novel. It wasn’t until late 2008 that she returned to her true passion of writing. Over the past few years she has penned five novels and joined several professional writing organizations to better her craft.

When not writing, she enjoys reading all types of fiction. Some great literary influences in her life include Edgar Allen Poe, Shakespeare, Francine Rivers and J K Rowling.

Ciara is happily married and enjoys family time. She has learned to embrace chaos, which is a requirement when raising three boys, and utilizes the insanity to create stories not of this world including, Fantasy, Paranormal, Sci-Fi, and Young Adult Dystopian.

Her first love, besides her family, reading, and writing, is travel. She’s backpacked through Europe, visited orphanages in China, and landed in a helicopter on a glacier in Alaska.

MY THOUGHTS:
This was my first “steampunk” series… and I am a FAN!! I read the Prequel first so I knew some of the history for Escapement. You do not have to read the Prequel to enjoy this first installment but I recommend it!! I just love Ciara Knight’s writing style. She puts you completely into the story and makes you believe every word. You become so engaged with the character that they become real! You route, worry for, and become emotionally attached to the characters… especially the “Triune”. With new revelations throughout the book you are left wondering about the Royal family and the War that has the lands in turmoil!! Just like Weighted, Escapement starts with a bang and ends with one… leaving you wondering, questioning and wanting more!! I definitely recommend checking this book out and any other books by Ciara Knight!!
MY RATING:
KUWTR-Book-Rating-5
Disclosure: I received one copy of the book from the Author for review purposes only. I was not compensated to write a positive or favorable review. This is Keeping Up With The Rheinlander’s personal opinion.

We went to Great Wolf Lodge a couple weeks ago for our sort of Christmas trip, so we'll be staying home on the actual holiday. It'll be just the five of us.

I stay home. I try not to leave the house for anything if possible, between Dec. 24th and Dec. 26. The stores and roads are crazy.

I'm at my parent's house already (got here yesterday)! It's a relatively short trip, especially since we drove all the way to Colorado for the holidays last year.
